Legend says a woodcutter named Toren was chased up a mountain by an enormous black tiger. Toren ran through a wall of clouds into the lair of a great dragon. The silver dragon uncoiled from the mist and blew a white flame that lifted the tiger from the ground. Held in mid-air, the tiger calmed.

The dragon pulled in a deep breath and drew it back out with her claw, forging a gently curved blade. She pressed the tiger into the blade, where it sealed the spell in steel. Toren accepted the sword with reverence and carried it with him everywhere.

Through every battle and valley, tigers bowed and followed him, helping him repel raiders and guide travelers home. Toren created the saya himself, painting it with the silver clouds of the dragon's lair so no one would forget where it was forged.

Materials and use

This sharpened, full-tang katana has a 1060 carbon steel blade that is 28.74" long, 1.22" wide, and 0.28" thick, with a 10.63" handle. It has a black tiger-and-flame etching near the habaki, an ornate silver-tone tsuba, a gold-tone habaki, a grey handle wrap, a blue-and-white sageo, and a gray saya patterned with silver clouds and a dragon. It comes with a single sword stand. It's made for display and light cutting only.

No. The Dragonclaw Katana is an original Mini Katana design, and its story is a legend written for it, not history.

Can I bring it to a convention?

Most conventions ban sharp blades. For cosplay at events, choose a dull, foam, or plastic option and always check the venue's weapons policy first.

How do I care for my sword?

Wipe the 1060 carbon steel blade with a soft, dry cloth after handling. Fingerprints carry moisture and salts.
Apply a thin coat of protective oil every few weeks, more often in humid climates. Carbon steel rusts if neglected.
Don't store it in the saya for long periods in damp places, since a scabbard can trap moisture.
Keep oil off the handle wrap, and check now and then that the mekugi pegs are snug.

Overall a great sword, only reason it’s not 5 stars is because it came with dirt on the blade, and the sheathe wrapping is a bit roughly done
